AESS is an independent community organisation that has been supporting Asian Elders in Wandsworth for over many years.

Funding was given in 1992 for a volunteer project but was stopped and provided a range of culturally sensitive services to enable Asian elders to live independently in their own homes.

Asian Elders are a particular vulnerable section of the community who, due to combination of age, language and culture, remain isolated from general support structures.

We aim to ensure support is available to Asian Elders by assisting them to obtain appropriate care services from both Health and Social Services and through the provision of our Home Care Services, Volunteer support, Asian Day Centre, Asian Sheltered housing Scheme, Luncheon Club and Asian Women's Group (at present suspended).

Our workers are able to speak a range of Asian Languages e.g. English, Gujarati, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Tamil and Bengali, and are sensitive to the diverse cultural, linguistic and religious needs within the Asian community.
